Prepare for your trip

Get ready for your adventure. Everything you need to know to prepare and have an enjoyable stay at Kamishiro Mountain Lodge.

About Us

Nestled in a peaceful corner of Hakuba, our lodge offers a tranquil escape with a selection of charming restaurants and a relaxed atmosphere. If you’re seeking a low-key, cozy vibe during your stay in Japan, Kamishiro Mountain Lodge will be a great fit for you.

For those looking for more vibrant nightlife, we suggest you consider Echoland, known for its lively strip of bars, cafes, and shops—a scene reminiscent of Bali (complete with a few tipsy Aussies). Happo and Wadano are also great options, catering to an upmarket crowd with upscale restaurants and bars.

If late-night partying isn’t your priority and you prefer unwinding with a warm cup of hot chocolate, our quiet and serene location is the perfect base for your Hakuba adventure.

About the Hakuba Goryu ski area

The closest ski field, Goryu, is just a 2-minute ride on the free village bus, with the bus stop a short 2-minute walk from the lodge. Hakuba Valley boasts nine main ski areas (referred to as resorts) spread across the 20km valley, each offering unique slopes and experiences.

A convenient shuttle bus service connects the resorts, with a one-way trip costing approximately ¥800.

For flexibility, consider the Hakuba Valley Ski Pass, which includes unlimited access to all ski areas and shuttle buses. Travel time between resorts is typically 10–15 minutes, though this may vary due to frequent stops. NOTE: The furthest resort - Cortina - may take up to 50 minutes.

However, if you’re travelling with a large group or want more freedom to explore, renting a car is a great option—especially for reaching restaurants and attractions farther afield. If you choose this, please inform us as parking spaces at the lodge are limited.

IMPORTANT: If you are self-driving, you will require an international driver’s license. This is mandatory if you plan to drive in Japan. Ensure you have this well before your departure from your home country.
